Roles, Responsibilities & Getting Involved
Roles, Responsibilities & Getting Involved
By Keith Denoncourt
I’ve admired a number of Professional Outdoor Communicators for years. Some, I’ve had the privilege of hunting and fishing alongside—and on a few special occasions, we’ve even collaborated on major conservation projects across North America.
There is a responsibility to bring all forms of safe, respectful, conservation based wildlife management activities to life
It wasn’t by chance that I started working with Brody Teale. I’ve known Brody and his family for many years, but it wasn’t until I re-launched the video production side of Coachman’s Diaries that our paths aligned professionally. This revival led to some incredible adventures with Canadian Wildlife Adventures and Basso Safaris.
Then came a pivotal moment—Brody invited me to join Non-Typical Nation as a Content Creator. For the first time in years, I felt like I could be considered a Professional Outdoor Communicator. It’s a title that carries weight and responsibility, and I was initially hesitant to apply for membership with the Professional Outdoor Media Association of Canada (POMAC).
Some of POMAC’s members have achieved incredible things. Their work ethic, expertise, and dedication to conservation and communication are nothing short of inspiring. Honestly, I didn’t think I could measure up. But with encouragement from a friend and mentor—Brad Fenson—I submitted my application.
When TJ Schwanky informed me that I had been accepted, I was in disbelief. Then, during the 2025 Edmonton Sportsman Show, when Vanessa Harrop handed me my first POMAC membership card, it felt surreal. I was now part of something much bigger than myself.
Representing with Pride
At this year’s Edmonton Sportsman Show, I proudly joined the Non-Typical Nation booth. Not only was I representing our show on Wild TV, but I also had the honour of showcasing the world-class taxidermy work of Brody Teale and Ryan Kostyniuk of Dave Booth Taxidermy. The adventures we brought to life were made possible by incredible partners like Canadian Wildlife Adventures, Basso Safaris, and Nature Fellas.
It’s not just about showing off exciting adventures—what I truly value is the opportunity to educate. I strive to share the science-based facts and proven methods behind conservation-based wildlife management. Being able to communicate those principles professionally is just as important to me as capturing a perfect outdoor moment on camera.

Brad Fenson, Vanessa Harrop and TJ Schwanky are an absolute wealth of knowledge and leadership. I have personally followed their examples on numerous occasions.
Brad Fenson is a leading example on how to involve your family safely in all kinds of cool outdoor adventures.
Keith Denoncourt and Wes David have worked together historically for fishing conservation.
A Show Full of Talent and Passion
The Sportsman Show was filled with professionals whose passion for the outdoors elevated the entire experience. The Wild TV team, including Ryan Kohler and Scott Stirling, brought energy and professionalism to the floor. Wes David, host of Fishing the Wild West, worked tirelessly behind the scenes while also serving as a keynote presenter. His connection with local anglers was genuine and powerful.
Brad Fenson’s wild game cooking presentations stood out, especially his emphasis on involving the whole family. Jeremy Evans captivated the crowd by sharing his intense grizzly bear encounter, and many other talented sportsmen demonstrated their unique outdoor skills.
Brody Teale, Bobbie Hart, Keith Denoncourt will be working together in the very near future. Learning, and sharing the skills that Bobbie Hart has to offer will be serve as the foundation for many more upcoming adventures.
The Sportsman Show is sincerely about Sportsman helping Sportsman. Cory Hefts efforts with Hoggin Alberta are legendary. Supporting Veterans and First Responders is admirable and Non Typical Nation is proud to be one of their supporters.
One particularly inspiring moment came from Bobbie Hart, whose presentation on long-range shooting left such an impression on us that Non-Typical Nation is planning a visit to Pennsylvania to film with him soon.
Building on Integrity and Trust
The show also featured a wide array of top-tier outfitters offering lifetime adventures for the whole family. At Non-Typical Nation, we only work with outfitters whose heart, spirit, and intentions we genuinely believe in. If we can’t personally stand behind the experience, we walk away—simple as that.
When we support someone, we go all in—from trip planning to memorializing your hunt with stunning taxidermy work from Dave Booth Taxidermy. Our goal is to provide not just an adventure, but an unforgettable story.

A Shared Mission
The true success of the 2025 Edmonton Sportsman Show was rooted in teamwork and mutual support. All of us—creators, presenters, brands, outfitters, and families—are working together to preserve and promote our outdoor community, while protecting our environment and investing in long-term conservation.
That shared mission, along with the incredible support I’ve received, is what makes my POMAC membership so meaningful. It’s not just a card in my wallet—it’s a commitment to doing things the right way, with integrity, passion, and purpose.
Thank you for supporting wildlife and always standing behind nonprofit conservation efforts.

There is a substantial amount of Science that goes into every harvest. Explaining the science to everyone who will listen is a fundamental responsibility of POMAC members at the Sportsman Show. Having a strong Outdoor Education /Environmental Science background, Keith Denoncourt’s strength is sharing this science in a manner that even young people can understand.
